Job Description

Pay rate ranges from $15 to $15.28 based on experience. The PPA I is responsible for the day-to-day office operations that directly support the assigneddepartment. Position coordinates billing, testing, patient care with internal and external physicians andother Brookdale departments to ensure patient files and health records are accurate, current and servicesare billed properly. Prepare treatment rooms, measure vital signs, prepare patient for physician examination. Cleanand sterilize instruments, disinfect exam room. Obtain surgery authorizations, verify insurance coverage, ensure services are properlydocumented and billing codes assigned accordingly. Coordinate patient billing questions withbilling department or other Brookdale services. Coordinate patient services with other departments such as Radiology, Operating Room, PainManagement, Imaging and etc. Greet patient, answer general questions, schedule appointments as well as post-surgeryappointments and therapy treatments. Contact patient in advance of appointment to confirmschedule. May supervise the Medical Assistant s work relating to office procedures and protocols. Providesday-to-day coaching, and performance feedback. Assists Physician in new employee training ofoffice procedures. Serves as a liaison for various documentation requests to include files, work release or restrictionnotices, Attorney requests as well as providing information to other departments related to thetreatment of patients. Review supply inventory of supplies weekly and order as necessary. Scan and inventory allprescriptions and medications. Foster an environment that promotes Respect, Dignity and Integrity. All other duties as requested.

Full-Time 8:30am-5pm no weekends.
A minimum of one (1) year office clerical experience within a physician office or hospital environment preferred.
High School Diploma required.
Position will be located at one of our clinics on 8922 Avenue L First Floor Brooklyn, NY

Skills: Familiarity with billing codes and coding principles preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and systems such as Athena Health, EPIC, ADS or EZaccesspreferred. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite is required. Ability to fully utilize BHMC s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare andbilling systems relevant to this position.Physical Requirements: Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewingthroughout the working day.

Education: High School degree required. Associates degree or accreditation as medical assistant preferred.Experience: A minimum one (1) year office clerical experience within a physician office or hospitalenvironment preferred.
