Pay rate ranges from $67.32 to $72.94 based on experience. "Job Summary:The Nurse Manager Psychiatry, will assume 24-hour responsibility for overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Psychiatry Nurse Manager demonstrates experience in facilitating social and emotional needs, supervising and evaluating patient progress. Manager for Psychiatry will also provide clinical supervision which involves discussing specific cases, problems and treatment interventions for patients with the healthcare team. Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with all other healthcare team members. Weekend and holiday coverage as needed is also a responsibility of the role as Nurse Manager. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties:-Monitors current quality control plans which includes review of program policies and ongoing assessment of treatment outcomes.-Develop programs that foster continued clinical development to positively impact on patient care and career satisfaction of staff.-Maintains required unit records, reports and statistics for administrative purpose, ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control (POCT), PI, safety, environmental and infection control measures.-Communicate requirements to staff, and hold staff accountable to established requirements.-Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care.-Evaluates daily operation of nursing units focusing on potential problems and strategizing prevention measures with the staff.-Develops long-term unit staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs.-Develops measures and monitors unit operational performance metrics inclusive, agency and overtime costs, vacancy and turnover rates.-Investigates and follows through with occurrences/incidents and completes reports as required.-Collaborates with the CNO/SVP of nursing to establish nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance.-Monitors and evaluates client treatment plans, including goal completion, psych-social, economic, legal and other supportive services that a client needs.-Identifies protocols affecting the patient population served and keeps nursing staff informed.-Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients, family and staff that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance; and develops mechanism to assess same.-Ensures equal access to treatment for all persons in need regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, or sexual orientation.-Provides supervision of patient care provided by nursing staff to high risk patients i.e. patients in restraints, constant observation, medically unstable patients.-Participates in the overall planning process for the service.-Develops an effective plan for delivery of nursing care within the assigned area of responsibility.-Responds to patient and family concerns or complaints with sensitivity and compassion in a timely fashion.-Conducts monthly meetings with the staff to address equipment, scheduling, goals, and objectives, performance metrics and improvement activities, and any staff concerns.-Educates and evaluates staff.-Examines areas of concern with staff, patients, patient family members and provides guidance, supervision and discipline as needed.-Educates staff in new and existing department procedures and systems (e.g. Information systems, etc.)-Makes recommendations and provides opportunities for growth and development of personnel and arranges for appropriate education and training."
