Job Description

Pay rate ranges from $43.32 to $46.93 based on experience. General Statement:
Performs patient care nutritional activities. Screens patient s nutritional status, assesses laboratory values and other pertinent information. Develops appropriate care plans, monitors patient s status, and counsels patient and family regarding special nutritional requirements. Consults with other heath care professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, etc.) as appropriate; and participates in departmental quality enhancement activities.
Assists Assistant Chief Clinical Dietitian in matters relating to Quality Assurance, productivity, menu development, diet manual revision, patient educational materials, and patient food review. Participates on Hospital committees and in planning staff training (as needed). Responsible for personnel development and orientation. Assists in supporting the highest possible patient satisfaction levels. Ensures program effectiveness to achieve Hospital, food, and nutritional service goals.

Master degree preferred
Needs Epic and Cbord experience.
8- 4:30pm or 9-5:30pm. Rotating Weekends

Skills: Job Duties:
1. Human Resources Management
(a) Assigned to patients, including pediatric units as part of coverage. Counsels patients and families.
(b) Actively pursues continuing education and personal development programs to maintain and expand knowledge base.
(c) Promotes Hospital, food, and nutritional services policies and procedures.
2. Client/Customer Relations
(a) Deals easily and successfully in resolving problems in patient care according to the goals and mission of the Hospital.
(b) Effectively communicates with Nursing, Medical, and Support staff.
(c) Conducts Meal Rounds to determine the adequacy and acceptability of meals.
(d) Recommends appropriate patient satisfaction programs.
3. Improvement Assessment
(a) Compiles data for established quality management monitors.
(b) Follows departmental standards of care.
(c) Maintains recordkeeping.
4. Leadership/Management Skills
(a) Represents the Hospital, food, and nutritional departments professionally and ethically.
(b) Provides advice on clinical issues at departmental and interdepartmental meetings.
(c) Demonstrates excellent communication and listening skills.
(d) Achieves assigned goals.
(e) Creates and supports an environment in which continuous improvement is measured and rewarded.
(f) Independently plans and implements projects and programs.
(g) Develops and presents training classes.
(h) Assists in managing the diet office activities.

Education: Minimum Education:
Bachelors Degree in Nutrition or Home Economics (Dietetics).
Minimum Experience and Skills:
1 year clinical experience preferred, but new Graduate is acceptable.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Strong verbal and written skills.
License/Registration/Certification/Permit Required:
Registered Dietitian.
Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist New York State.
Active member of the American Dietetic Association.
